This post is summing up two weeks of work as not a great deal has happened. The first week was spent finishing up my proposal and the second reviewing what basis I have in my prototype so far.
Most of the first week was spent on the Methodologies and Gantt Chart sections of my proposal. For my methodology I have chosen to go ahead with an Agile approach over a Waterfall method as it feels more suited for games as the requirements can always change throughout development. The Agile process helps with this whereas the Waterfall method you define the requirements at the beginning.
The Gantt Chart was created based off of my MoSCoW analysis. Prioritising the must haves so that a working build of the game with all the relevant core features can be created. For the purpose of the proposal all the plans were laid out, even ones that have been thought about or done already in my prototype. This early version is scheduled to be created before Christmas, which is ideal as over Christmas is where a big sprint can be done getting as many of the mechanics as possible in the should haves added, this can happen as there is a break between other modules leaving my Individual Project my main focus for a few weeks.
As mentioned, some of the must have mechanics and one or two should have mechanics have been already implemented. These being a basic unit/building control and selection basic and slightly more advanced AI pathfinding as it updates during run time as well. These are going to form a strong basic, and keep my slightly ahead of my scheduled plan for the time being which increases more time at the end for bug fixing or other problems.
From here research will continue and development will start. Working with the basic mechanics so the game can start forming.
